Well Darn.

Hopefully this will work.  The picture showed up when I viewed it.  Hopefully it shows up now.  Just sending the picture itself.

Hopefully the language doesn't offend too much, but it is funny. If nothing else you can start the day with a laugh.

I am having trouble getting into the spirit of Christmas.  At least in the shopping area.  I think if we would just get the tree up and decorations it would help, but I live with scrooge.  He won't get the stuff from the garage (all too big and heavy for me) until Dec. 10.  I just wish I had the room in the house to store it all, then I could drag it out.

Cold here and I think it's now going to stay that way.  Guess there is suppose to be snow Sat.  I'm not looking forward to that.

Have a good day.

Not sure if this is really true, but funny.

Sorry about the language at the end.  No way for fix it or it would spoil the whole thing. A friend sent it to me and even though she was told it was true we wonder.

Carnation Milk

A little old lady from Wisconsin had worked in and around her family dairy farms since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation.

When canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores in the 1940s, she read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan.

The producers wanted a rhyme beginning With 'Carnation Milk is best of all. '

She thought to herself, I know everything there is to know about milk and dairy farms.

I can do this!

She sent in her entry, and several weeks later, a black car pulled up in front of her house.

A large man got out, knocked on her door and said, "Ma'am,.....The president of Carnation milk absolutely LOVED your entry.....So much, in fact, that we are here to award you $1,000 even though we will not be able to use it for our advertisements!"

He did, however, have one printed up to hang on his office wall.

True story!!!

Sunday, Sunday.

I haven't quite figured out what to do with today.  No football games.  Packers and Badgers have already played and WON.  I guess I could watch the Bears and hope they lose, lol.  Hey, I'm a Packer fan and rooting for them is real difficult.

Poor Nicole has to take the bus to school now.  Danielle's car is on the fritz so Mike either has to take or she has to use the truck.  She usually takes her to school as it's on her way but she has to leave earlier now.  Poor baby.  She has to get up and out about 15 minutes earlier.

Have finally done some Christmas shopping.  Have the great-grandkids done, and Nicole, Danielle, Mike, Austin and Sandy.  Jack gave Aaron a rifle for hunting so I guess that is his Christmas present.  Now for the rest of them.  Giving money to Jake and his wife.  They need new tires so what little we can give will sure help them.  So that leaves Steph, Jack, Jacky (I know I still call him that), Jared, Carson Alyssa and Allie.  Should be a snap right.  LOL  I think the tree will go up Saturday.  Jack is still trying to talk me into a table top tree, but I like my big tree and not quite ready to give in yet.

Well off to find out what to do with today.

You all have a good one.

The Quiet.....

...is over.  The hunters are back and without any success.  Jack saw a few but had no shot and I guess no one else saw anything.  It's so nice to have them home all safe and sound.  The minor downside---the tv had been off from 9:30 last Fri. till about 9:30 Wed. morning during the day.  No longer.  I don't think it's been off at all since, with the exception of sleep and not being home, lol.  Funny how one can fill the time without it and others, not so much.

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Darla, Jim and Jared yesterday.  Watch the Packers win and a marvelous dinner.  So much so, that we naturally overdid it.  Couldn't even manage a piece of pie after.  Split it in half and brought it home.  Was really late before I could even think about it.

Anyone do the Black Friday shopping thing?  I just don't see the real need.  Guess I'm just not the standing forever, waiting in line, pushing each other type.  There is nothing out there in the stores that is worth all that hassle to me.  I think also that if you use a credit card for purchases it diminishes the size of the savings you get if you end up paying interest for any length of time.  As few people can pay the whole balance each month you lose some of the advantage.

Have a good day.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I have met here in blogland.  You all have brought such joy and fun to my online experience.  I'm praying you all have a wonderful day.

I'm thankful for all my family and friends, both close and far.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!

I am exhausted.

Darla picked me up and we went shopping at 9:30 this morning.  I have only been home for about a half hour. We went from store to store and found a few things for Christmas then for a late lunch.  I haven't been on my feet that long since I retired.  Poor things are just smokin'.  It wasn't raining when we left but by the time we headed for home it was.  Not a hard one though, just a nice little one.

You remember I've been going through closets looking for a scrapbook.  Well I went through some old purses, and lo and behold, found a book or two.  As I hardly ever go anywhere without one I was surprised to find the unread material still there.  Always have on in the glove compartment and usually one in my purse (when I carry one).  Now brings me to last night.  We went to the funeral and after they had a luncheon for the family and friends at the Moose.  When we left I drove Sherry home and realized I didn't have my purse.  A quick call assured me it was still there and I had to go retrieve it.  Well, they all laughed of course, and asked how a woman could forget such a thing.  I informed them that as I hardly ever carry it there I wasn't used to grabbing it when I leave.  I'm certainly glad that that was where I left it.  Could hav been disasterous elsewhere.

I think maybe I will take a late nap.  You all have a good evening.

May you all have a wonderful Thankgiving!

Manic Monday

Been out and about already.  Ran to the grocery store and picked up all the things I need to make pies for Thanksgiving.  7 a.m. is the perfect time to go.  Hardly a soul there.  Bedding to wash and a little load  I didn't do the other day, and probably numerous things I forgot about.   Then the funeral this afternoon.

Now does she look like a dedicated deer hunter?
I will be interested to see if she will want to do it again.

We came out of the visitation last night and across the street were some deer in an empty lot,  just lolling around knowing they are perfectly safe in the middle of town.  Then Darla almost hit one on her way home as it darted right across the highway in front of her.  I think the guys are hunting in the wrong place, hee hee. I don't even know if they seen any.  They never call so always have to wait and see if they come home with one.  Though, I'm sure if Carson got one Jared would put it up, but she would have to pick up the gun first, lol.

Well I guess I had better get with and onto the rest of the laundry.  You all have a great day.

It's so quiet.

Though it's nice for little bit, it will be nice when they get back.  Like the peace and quiet temporarily but always miss the people.  We joke about bugging each other but sure happy we have them to have fun with.

Got some hints for Christmas present and may head out to get some today or at least sometime before they get back.

A dear friend passed the other day.  She was the mother of my cousins wife.  A great little lady of 84.  Just a tiny bit of a thing and full of fun.  They found her gone sitting at her kitchen table.  She was just about to go to her daughters in Florida for the winter.  We had just seen her a week ago yesterday at the Moose for dinner.  She was her usual chipper self.  It was quite a shock to say the least.

Well I wonder what Carson is thinking about her first day deer hunting.  She was all excited to go but somehow I don't think she will want to next year.  I must say, she is willing to give things a try.  It's just that she has such sensitive personality.

Have a good day.

They're gone.

The hunters have head for the north woods.  Would you believe without even a good-bye.  Yup, they did.  They were waiting for son and grandson and when they got here they made sure everything was packed (double-checked), climbed in and off they went.  I was doing up breakfast dishes and came out to see if son had shown up and say good-bye to them.  No one was there.  So a text to the hubby that said "WELL GOOD-BYE!  Shortly a sheepish phone call with an I'm Sorry.  Got all caught up in the readiness.

Now to decide what NOT to do first, lol.  There's cleaning and laundry, sorting and tossing, organizing and other stuff like that.  Wait, there's also shopping and wrapping, blogging and fb, reading and tv, sewing and scrapbooking.  Now those sound like much more fun and interesting.  Ah the choices.  I know you know just which group will get the most attention ;-).

Have a good day.

Finished....

"Water for Elephants" that is. It was very good and yes I would recommend it.  Especially if the circus every interested you.  It backtracks some and I thought that would bother me, as I don't usually care for that in a book.  But it makes sense as you read it and the story wouldn't quite be the same without it.  Quite the insight into the lives of circus people and what really went on in some of them.

Well the guys are gathering up all their stuff to leave for the "Big Hunt".  I sure hope they've got everything as I'm not delivering forgotten items.  No, not a meanie, just wouldn't know where the heck I'd have to take it.  LOL

Hopefully I can get some of the things done that I've put off too long.  Then again I could just enjoy a lot of reading.  After all, I have all those books I downloaded to my kindle and a few paperbacks I haven't read yet.   Hmmmmm!  Decision, decisions.  Guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. :-)

Have good rest of the day.

What?

Where the heck did Tuesday go?  It was just Monday for the crying out loud.   Must have been that book.  I started reading 'Water for Elephants' and just realized I'm already half way through it.  So if you don't see me tomorrow either it's probably because I'm doing the other half.  Have running to do today with the hubby to get him ready for his hunting trip.

Also had to go have cake and ice cream for my mother-in-laws 89 birthday.  Dolly still is doing well for her age.  She's gets around with very little help with the exception of transportation to and fro.  Jack checks on her twice a day waiting on her for breakfast and dinner.  She loves that being spoiled.  She has one granddaughter that will be staying with her for a little while who is trying to find her own place.  She does use a walker when out and about.  Happy Birthday Dolly!

Jack made a batch of cookies yesterday.  Cinnamon Roll cookies that we saw online.  Well they are good, and gone.  Well, 1 left.  Darla insisted we save her one.  Sheesh.  They were on a Betty Crocker website.

Wishing a good day for you all.

Monday Musings

Well I must say, the beef tips and noodles dinner at the Moose was the first time I have been disappointed in a meal.  The beef could have been cooked longer as it took some time to chew it.  The noodles were not soft but thick and chewy.

I wonder sometimes about those in charge of our state.  I'm talking about the Concealed Carry Law that was enacted here, making WI the 49th state to allow such.  Now I don't really understand the need, but as hunters explained if they have a coat over their gun while hunting you would be in violation of the law so this will prevent that.  Okay I guess.  I know they have tried before to get the law passed and then Gov. Doyle vetoed it saying if you want to carry a gun just strap it to your hip and carry it as we have open carry here.  Well with the change the NRA (who has been pushing for it) got their way.  Okay again.  But, the Attorney General (who is of the same group) added a 4 hour training session in order to get a permit.  Makes perfect sense to anyone, wouldn't you think?   Well legislature with backing by the NRA, in it's infinite wisdom, put on the pressure and the legislature had that dropped.  Now my problem with the whole thing is the police have to have 40 hours of gun training, but any yahoo can buy a gun, get a permit without any safety training at all.  Yes, some are turned down but not for that reason.  It just doesn't make any sense to me.  Guess I'm just stupid.

Guess this was a downer post.  Sorry about that.  Just had to get if off my chest.  I feel better now.

School Plays

We went to the High School Play last night.  They put on Les Miseriables and those kids did a marvelous job.  The voices were beautiful and strong.  I had never seen it performed professionally, but doubt they could have done it much better.  Was a little surprised that a high school did the play, considering the language and some content, but it was done well.  The costuming was wonderful.   All in all, a job well done.

Tonight it's a beef tips and noodles dinner at the Moose for the benefit of the troops.  Bring such things as batteries, snack, stationary, pens dvd's, books, tolietries etc. to be boxed and sent and you get the meal for a lower price.  They do this yearly, collecting and sending boxes to the troops over seas.  Thanksgiving they are bringing the homeless vets in for Thanksgiving Dinner.  Rides will be provided as well.  There is an old nursing home in the area that has a specific area fixed up just for them.

Monday night is the Packer game of course.  The dreaded Minnesota Vikings are coming to Lambeau Field and want to spoil the undefeated season.  Now I know and believe that being undefeated is very difficult, and doubt that they will do it all season.  But I sure hope it's not the Vikings that end it.  Our Badgers also have to deal with Minnesota in the Paul Bunyan Axe game.  You know, it's one of those rivalery games where an object is passed back and forth to the winner. Well, we've had it for a few years and I'm sure Minnesota would like to hold it for awhile.  Sorry fellas.  We plan to keep it.

That about sums up my weekend.  Started busy and looks like it's going to stay that way.  Hope yours is a good.  Take Care.

Wondering

Why is it that you never thing of what you should have said until hours after you should have said it?  You know hubby went hunting with his buddy last week.  Well when they got home the decided we would all meet for breakfast.  We no sooner got seated when the wife asked "guys were gone all week, why didn't your call me?"   Now dumb me, instead of saying the phones lines run both ways, said I just enjoyed the alone time.  Why do people try to put all communication on someone else.  It's not like the woman is shy.  In fact she's very outgoing and verbal.  Sheesh!

Why is it so hard for some people to buy clothes?  Are there more of their sized than anything else?  Due do long arms, (he calls them his monkey arms, lol) my husband wears a large tall.  The arms are longer and he also likes the extra length of the shirt itself.  Today we went to get some levi's for him, a new coat for me and a couple shirts for him.  Not 1 shirt in his size in the whole store.  Tons and tons of 1x, 2x, 3x & 4x in the flannel that he likes.   REALLY?  Expecially since this was the store that he always found them in.

Just rambling on.

The semi and finals on DWTS will be with people worth watching.  I think it will come down to Ricki and J.R. with him winning.  He is just so smooth and dances so well.

It's raining and they say there may be some of the nasty 's' stuff.  They're getting it already north of here.  Possibly up to 8 inches in norther WI.  It can hold off here until Dec. 24 as far as I'm concerned.  Melting on the 26th would be good too, lol.  Can you tell I'm not a fan of winter.

Sitting here racking the brain for what to make for dinner.  Hate planning meals.  The kitchen is not my favorite room in the house.  Good thing hubby likes to cook or we might starve, lol.

Sitting here looking around my computer area I think it's time for a good organizational purge.  It's beginning to look more like a garbage dump.  I'm sure there is much that can be tossed.  Why do we let things pile up?

Well I guess that's enough jabbering on and on.  You all have a good day.  Hope the weather is good at your place.

Smile, it makes people wonder what your up to.

Aha!

No, not the scrapbook.  Still can't find it.  It's about my new laptop.  I think I have figured out why hubby bought me one.  Possible guilt.  He went and bought himself a new bow and release (story about that in a min.) and seems the cost is a secret.  That was over a month ago and I still have no clue. As we both have our own separate credit cards we don't always pay attention to what the other buys.  Don't get me wrong, I know he wouldn't do anything to break us, I just think he's enjoying being funny for a little bit.  I know if I really asked he'd tell me.

Now about the release.  He lost it.  Can you believe it.  He says it was an expensive (top of the line) lesson learned and had to go get a replacement yesterday.  Glad it was the bow too.  He said he laid it on the ground when putting things away and forgot to pick it up.  They went back and looked for it, but there were ATV tracks around so someone got a nice release for their bow.

Well I watched DWTS and they got the scores right as far as I'm concerned.  Now if the audience gets it right we will be without Nancy Grace for the semi-finals.  She tries but she just doesn't have it.

Tonight my fav.  NCIS

Have a good day.

Not a winner!

The trip to the casino was not a successful one.  Though, that I came back only $30 down could be considered a success.  No one on the bus won.  They have really tightened up those machines.  They best part was the meal they give you.  The food is so good and you get all you can eat.  Not a bad trip for $10.  Bus ride, lunch and hopefully you don't go broke.

Stopped at a little bar on the way back and the proprieter served us 'pudding shots'.  Now I think you have heard of  'jello shots'.  Well she makes hers with pudding.  Not one for doing shots but had to try them.  Boy were they good.  She had strawberry, orange and chocolate flavors.  I saw her writing down the recipe for some of those with us.  Oh Oh!

Yahoo!  Hubby just walked in the door.  I didn't expect them so soon, but they forgot to change their clocks back.  Lol   I'm sure quite a few have forgot.  Hate that.  I wish they would just leave it alone.  I mean there are some areas where they don't do it and they seem to be doing okay.

I had something I was going to write about and now, for the life of me, I can't remember what it was.  Guess it couldn't be too important.  So, as long as the brain has gone into hibernation mode I will say,
Have a great day.

No Luck!

I don't know what he did with that scrapbook, but I can't find it.  It wasn't in the black holes, so who knows where it is.

This morning I took a jacket I found in the black hole to the school I use to work at.  As it had the school staff Logo on it, I thought maybe someone could use it.  Well on the way there was this truck stalled at the stop sign so all had to go around.  Well on the way back I could see flashing red and blue lights and traffic backed all the to the next road in one lane.  Had to go all around through town as the next road has a bridge that is being redone so traffic can't go that way either.  Well when I finally got back to where that road turns off the highway it was still backed up as far as you could see.  Took me 30 minutes to go around.

Not fair.  When I went into that closet and started pulling things our I counted 17, yes17, coats for Jack.  How many for me?  5.   Now does that seem fair to you?  There's Nascar jackets, hunting jackets, winter jackets, leather jackets, dress coats.  Really!  I have 1 dress coat (old by the way) 2 winter coats, 2 light jackets.  I had coats piled on every piece of living room furniture.  I think someone needs to load up and go the goodwill.  Sheesh!

Carole, about Emmitt.  He was beginning to feel the effects of his age and when they lost the house, the new landlord doesn't allow pets, so they decided now was the time to have him peacefully put to sleep.  I know they were not happy about it, but both the dog and cat were in the twilight of their years and they were glad they didn't have to suffer.

Now off to find some kind of trouble to get into.

Got it!

Went back to the store early this morning a got that little box of macaroni for my sister.  It's suppose to rain and maybe more today, so I went real early. Now I can concentrate on the last black hole.  Sure hope I can say 'got it' again later.

When I came home and started to unload the car (yes I got more stuff) I lifted the back and carried two bags in.  Came back out and there was this beautiful slate gray cat sittibg there next to the bags staring at me.  Quickly I shut the house door so it couldn't get in there, and shooed it away.  It is my nephew's cat CeeCee and it's always trying to get in somewhere.

I was shocked when I switched over to the end and saw who was going home on DWTS.  REALLY!  David has improved much faster than Nancy.  They way the voting has been going I worry about R.J.  and Ricki.

Have been downloading free books on my Kindle just about every day.  Have an alert that comes up of fb for the free ones of the day and usually find at least 1 that sounds interesting.

I had this craving for a sundae and when I went to the store yesterday all those fixings were in that $57 worth of stuff I bought.  Well I had it last night and craving is satisfied.  Now what to do with all the stuff.  If it stays in the freezer I know I'll cave.  That's not good.  But.................!

Well, off to that black hole.  You all have a good day.

Not lost

I haven't been swallowed up by the black holes yet.  But haven't found the scrapbook either.  Still looking though.  Hope for success.

Well someone else goes home on DWTS tonight.  I really think it should be Nancy Grace.  She gives it her best, and has a great attitude, but she still looks lost out there.  It was a nice calm night.  No blowup with Maks and Len.  Though Maks did get a little testy rehearsing the group dance.  I thought it was telling that when he left ,Derek took over and she seemed to have no trouble.  I don't watch on Tuesday until at the end to see who goes.  NCIS is my priority, and NCIS Los Angeles has grown on me.

Boy, you wouldn't think one person being gone would make such a difference in a day would you.  It's so quiet here with Jack up north.  I guess it must be that the tv isn't on all the time.

Took a trip to the store and naturally, $57 later,  I forgot the only thing I went for.  Here I thought Jack was the problem with that, lol.  Guess I have to admit I'm just as bad. Hate doing that. teehee

Hope your day went well and the rest of it is even better.
