Oh, oh

My PC is at the fix-it store.  It won't boot up.  I've been in the process of moving the important files and pictures to the external hard drive and it just couldn't wait a few more days.  Waiting for a call on the diagnosis. I have hope because when they had Jack's laptop they called quickly.  Hopefully they aren't swamped and I'm last on the list.  So glad I have my laptop, but really do miss the pc in the couple days it's been gone.  Guess I'm addicted and need more than one computer to play with, lol.

The weather is really nice right now.  I think Spring is finally popping up.  Oreo wants outside all the time.  Like all dogs, he thinks he can catch a squirrel, bird etc. but all he catches is leaves. He loves going next door in Deedee's fenced in yard and just running.  It will be so nice to sit out with him.  It can't come fast enough.

Well darn, there was something else I was thinking about to post and now it's gone.  Hate when that happens.  Instead I will wish you all Easter Blessings.

Pet Ownership

I've always believe that if you have a pet taking the best care of it is the number one priority.  I know years ago pets were allowed to roam free, you hardly put a collar on either a cat or dog.  You let it out in the morning and it would come and go as the day wore on.  Now days dogs have to be leashed and licensed given shots for safety of the animal and people.  I feel if you going to let your cat be a free roamer that the last two should also apply, and possible leashing them instead of allowing them to roam.  My m-i-l and I always disagreed on this.  Her famous answer was "cats weren't born witha collar and leash" and mine was "neither are dogs".  Keeping your pet close and safe show (to me anyway) just how much you love them.  Whenever I see a animal laying along side the road it reinforces my opinion.  There are exceptions of course,  like farm cats.

Now what brought this on you wonder.  Well yesterday I had two people knock at my door asking if I had seen their cat.  It was a roamer and always going in and out of peoples garages and sheds.  They haven't seen it since Saturday and say it needs medication.  Now whether you agree with my previous thoughts you would think at the very least a animal on medication would be kept at home.  Well we've checked our garage two times for them and no cat.  I fear the worse for the cat.

Now you know that there is a cat around here that Jodi's grandkids say is theirs and they call it CeCe.  In reality it is a cat that really belongs to no one that we know of.  It bothers me that they allow the cat so close to the kids but I have no control.  Just can observe and hope for the best.  So far, so good.

I hope this post didn't upset anyone.  I don't want that and each is entitled to their own feelings.  It is just my thoughts and I certainly don't think any less of how people handle their pets. I guess it's just that wondering about that poor cat won't get off my mine.

Hubby's home

The camping is over and hubby is home.  Said the weather was awful up there but they had a great time anyway.  Snow-shoeing, sking, pond scum skimming, archery, making birds houses, were just a few of the fun things they do.  He did say trying to keep the coals going when teaching outside cooking was a bit of a chore, lol.

Alas, he did come home with a problem.  He called just before he left to say he was on his way and that he had to follow behind one of the other volunteers as our speed-o-meter was broke and he couldn't tell his speed.  It's pegged at 120 mph.  Can't get it in until Tuesday.  Grrr!   My sister Jodi says it's time to get a Chevy Cruz but I told her that wouldn't pull the camper.  Her solution, camp in the yard. Funny isn't she.  That defeats the whole purpose of having a camper and getting away now an again.

Oreo was very happy to see him I can tell you.  He was jumping all over him.  But then, due to us being too easy, it's a habit he has with anyone that comes in.  Now we have to work on breaking it.  Not the best way to greet people and we were definitely lax in not allowing that.  Now it will be even harder to stop but we're determined to.

Everyone have a good day.

Please!

Come on Mother Nature, how about turning up the heat a little.  I'm not asking for 80's at this time, just warm enough to make walking the puppy a bit more comfortable.  Not a fast warm up that would cause big problems like flooding etc.  Just enough to let the ground soak up the moisture in a timely manner.  I really don't think that's asking too much.  At least the sun is shining.

You wouldn't think one little puppy could take up so much room in a bed would you?  I foolishly thought with Jack gone a few days I would have more freedom to move.  No, Oreo just curls up in a ball right against me and any change of position means picking him up and moving him.  It's a king size bed for pity sakes.   Does not make for a restful sleep.  No wonder a nap is needed during the day.

Well better go get something done around here.

You have a nice day.

MOTHER

There is but one and only one,
Whose love will fail you never.
One who lives from sun to sun,
   With constant fond endeavor.
...
There is but one and only one,
On earth there is no other.
In Heaven a noble work was done,
When God gave man a Mother.

It's doing it again.

That dreadful snow is falling AGAIN!  I must say those groundhogs are way off base this year.  The only one I know who is liking this stuff is this guy.

He wants to go out every 15 minutes.  Silly fellow, Mom's not into that, so he gets a couple times a day.  He's really getting into taking walks now.  Didn't think we'd ever get him to.  Hopefully it will help me get more excersize.  Need to lose some pounds, both for myself and for the doctor appt. in June.  Now to get him to go farther than just down to the river and back.  That's only 3 houses from ours.

I really need to go find some photo albums.  We have pictures loose all over the place and no place to put them.  I would like to catagorize them in albums, but would settle just to get them safely put away.   When going through them I'm sure I would be able to eliminate some by giving them to the subject or subjects family.

Tomorrow is my mother's birthday.  She was a wonderful woman who is really missed.  Not only by us girls, but everyone who knew her.  Though we think about her and dad daily it really hits home at this time of year.  She just loved St. Patrick Day and it brings her even more into focus.

Well guess I have to go outside again, lol.  You all have a good day.  Hope the weather isn't causing you discomfort.

Happy Saint Patricks Day!

A Little Bit of Heaven!

Have every the story of Ireland go its name?
I'll tell you, and you'll understand from whense old Ireland came,
No wonder that we're proud of that dear land across the sea,
For here's the way me dear old mother told the tale to me.
Shure, a little bit of Heaven fell from the sky one day,
And nestled on the ocean in a spot so far away;
And when the Angels found it,
Shure it looked so sweet and fair,
They said, "Suppose we leave it for it looks so peaceful there.
So they sprinkled it with star dust just to make the shamrocks grow'
Tis the only place you'll find them no matter where you go;
Then they dotted it with silver
To makes its lakes so grand,
And when they had it finished, shure they called it Ireland.
"Tis a dear old land of fairies and of wond'rous wishing wells;
And nowhere else on God's green earth have they such lakes and dells!"
No wonder that the Angels loved its shamrock-bordered shore.
"Tis a little bit of Heaven and I love it more and more."

Back Again!

Can you believe it.  I didn't get lost in other things.

I can hardly wait for spring to show up.  I'm getting cabin fever here.  Looking out and seeing the picnic tables just waiting for cookouts.  They seem so lonely out there.  Trouble is when it does thaw it will be so soggy and maybe even lake like for the start of spring.  Being so close to the river, and if it thaws too fast, it could cause big trouble.  Did see a hint of spring yesterday,  kids out on their bikes and skateboards.  Either that or they have cabin fever too and can't wait anymore. Maybe if I got my act together and get to the spring cleaning it would go faster.  Ya think?  Get it all done so when the weather does break I won't be tempted to ignore the cleaning and hit the outdoors.

Have to run and get some perscriptions filled and then thinking of a trip to the pet store.  Oreo has outgrown his collar and want to check on some treats.  Surprisingly, Walmart and Shopko don't carry the Kong type and he loves those.  He's seems to be doing quite well after his 'snip, snip'.   Other than having trouble keeping him from jumping it's going quite well.

Sad note.  A friend of my daughter Darla's, and relative niece of Sherry's husband passed away at only 52.  Larry was such a wonderful person, the kind that would never harm a sole and willing to help whereever needed.   Our prayers go out for his wife Lisa and two children.

Pray you all have a good day.
God Bless!

Here I am.

Hope you didn't think I stopped posting.  I didn't.  A combination of tired, lazy, reading, and busy with the puppy.  A few days there with no energy, hardly even enough to use the computer.  Then trying to read J.K. Rowlings knew book "A Casual Vacancy" and having a hard time getting into it.  Puppy got groomed and then neutered so trying to keep him quiet has been a real challenge.  They said no jumping or too much excitement.  Being a very active, people friendly fellow it has really been tough.  Also, I got an iPad and have been learning the ins an outs of that.  All in all, been just a tiny bit busy.

Will now be getting hubby ready to go to 5th grade science camp with the local school.  Have all the laundry to get ready, get the suburban 3rd seat out and ready to stock with camp supplies etc.. For any who didn't know from 'spaces' and past posts, he goes every year and helps out.  Been doing it for over 25 years.  He teaches outdoor cooking and just loves the exuberance of the kids.  Hopefully I can keep puppy toned down by myself.  lol

Then there is Saint Patricks Day a'coming.  :-).  Will we or won't we celebrate? At the moment I don't think I'm in the mood, but then we Irish you know? lol

Hope you all have been doing well.  I promise to try and do better with my posting.  Don't want anyone worrying.  I am now going around to check on you.

Oh, and that groundhog.  He has 6 days to prove he isn't lying.  It doesn't look good for him.

Pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes.

The annual Fire Dept. Pancake breakfast is tomorrow.  It's their way of offsetting the costs to the community for the things they need for their work.  In the past they've bought those cameras that they can see through in fires, jaws of life, and more.  These things are expensive and there isn't always room in the budgets for them, so they do the breakfast to help out.  Hubby will be working it almost all day, from 4:30 a.m. until after 3 in the afternoon.  He does it every year, even though he is retired from the dept. for years now.

The interesting thing is, they have it at the local high school where we both use to work.  Me for 30 years and him 12 before going to another school district.  Still he is the one the school allows to open the doors in the morning and keep watch on things.  Makes me so very proud that they have this trust in him still.

I think, tomorrow, I will see if I can remember how to change my page background.  I leave it up so long I forget how and have to go back to the instructions.  Since Oreo and I will be on our own most of the day I should be able to get that done and back to that sewing that needs done.  May even have time for chapter or two of reading.  May make a roast, taters and carrots for supper, or something equally as good.  Keep your fingers crossed I don't get off the track.

Well have a good evening.

An Irish Situation

There comes a time when you must take the Bull by the tail and face the situation squarely.
