Bye Honey!

R.I.P. Honey!

Sadly Nicole's dog had to be put down yesterday.  Honey was such a sweet dog.  Friendly and loving, but could be fiercly protective of Nicole.  She was old and was losing her ability to control herself.  The landlord in their place doesn't care for dogs but would have allowed it if she wasn't a barker. Well she wasn't, but with her problem she would have ruined their carpet.  As they were going to put her down anyway they decided now was the time.  Danielle said Nicole sobbed so hard it broke her heart.   My poor baby.  Swamped her with hugs.

We have guests.  Danielle's friend Spring and her daughters have arrived and sleeping nicely in the camper.  Construction and detours caused them to be about 4 hours late getting here. Spring makes a yearly trip back here to see her pals.

Busy weekend ahead.  Birthday party for great-grandson Logan and a reunion party for Spring.  Danielle sent an invite to all the kids they used to pal with to come and see here so Spring wouldn't have to do anymore running than necessary.  She has family here to visit and then sight-seeing with the girls.  The girls aren't too thrilled with our humidity, lol.  They're from Idaho and they don't have that problem out there.

Well guess I should go find something to eat.  You all have a good day.

Still here!

No, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth.  It's just that it has been so nice outside here for a few days I spent almost all of time out there.  In fact one day I went to the swing with my MP3 player and fell asleep listening to it.  Hubby came out after some time and asked if I had a nice nap.  The grandkids had come to ask him if we had the "Little Mermaid" on dvd as they didn't want to wake up grandma.  Such sweet kids.

It's raining like crazy and suppose to rain more into tonight and tomorrow.  Then the sun will be back and the heat and humidity should rise again.  Nothing like the 90's or 100's that's been going around, thank the Lord.  But still, if the humidity get too high it will not feel good.

Now I have tons to do as one of the girls Danielle ran with in school is coming for a visit with 2 of her daughters.  They will be staying in our camper so have to make sure all is in readiness out there.  She's a wonderful girl and her and her daughters are just beautiful.

On a sad and happy note.  Ya I know, how could it be both.  Well Danielle and family have lost their house thanks to the economy.  Going from 2 good jobs with auto manufacturing connections to a school aide doesn't bring in much money.  Mike was off all this time and finally found work but both living on her little salary and unemployment for 2 years finally took it's toll.  Now the happy side.  They are renting the house right next door.   Nicole will finally be in the school district instead of being an 'open enrollment' student.  She will be able to ride the bus.   Trouble is it's a very small house so most of their stuff is in storage.  Their landlord lives on the other side and he waived the security deposit.   I know once they get back on their feet and some money saved they will look for a larger place but until then we are loving having them here.

Hope your day is a good one.  Stay cool the best way you can if your still suffering in the heat.

It was just wonderful.

The trip down to visit Mary and Jim was just wonderful.  We had so much fun, right from the get go.  Sherry brought Bill's GPS and we no sooner got on the road (we weren't even out of the area) and the darn thing said "You have arrived at your destination".  She had to redo it.  Needless to say that got us laughing.  Rhonda brought a printout and they kept comparing, or should I say competing  on the accuracies.  Needless to say they were both spot on but we girls had fun with it.  One time it said go right and Rhonda's pointing left getting Jodi all confused.  We laughed so hard she could hardly see.

Mary was waiting outside the hospital for us and she gave the valet attendant Jodi's name and boy did he mess with her.  He called her by her name and said it's really been a long time since I saw you.  She was really confused as she couldn't remember him at all.  Sherry was not help.  She had read his name tag and said, "Jodi it's Andrew".   Another good laugh at that one.

Jim was looking pretty good.  Mary said when they brought him in was so gray it was terrifying.  He couldn't seem to eat as it bothered his stomach so he was getting IV's and that has brought his color back.  He was feeling much better when we saw him that morning.  But was a little down when we left.  The doctor was just going in and Mary was telling him what Jim was feeling, as he is the none complaining type and never says anything.  He did eat a bowl of soup the day before and yesterday so that is a good thing.

That Cancer treatment center is just awesome.  Not only is a beautiful place but everyone is so friendly and helpful.  Guests to visitors even get the lunch free.  There are pictures on the walls of those they helped, a big whiteboard map of the U.S. with the number of those that are there from each state.  Even Alaska and Hawaii have people there.   There's a big gold tree on the wall made of gold leaves with the names of 5 year survivors.  I say again it's just awesome.

After visiting Jim, Mary took us sightseeing and we went to the lake, which by the way took us back to WI. lol.  What a beautiful site.   The lighthouses, beach, the huge boulders and the marina of boats was really a sight to see, and guess who forgot her camera.  All of us but Mary.  They took photo's with their phones and Jodi sent some to fb.  My battery was low so no photo's here for me.  I may have to go and steal some from fb.

After the lake we went to a store called "Charming Charlies".  What a place.  Everything is sorted and displayed by color.  There is tons of jewelry and nothing over $14.95.  The clothing articles we all $24.95 and many of them were made in the good old U.S.A.  The purses were under $50.  I think we were there over and hour.   Then on to supper.  We went to Applebee's and enjoyed a great meal, good service and the most wonderful company ever.  Didn't get home until after 8.  It was a great day.

I think it was just what Mary needed.  We're already thinking about doing it again. This has to be hard to be away from family for so long.  Especially for someone like her who is so family oriented and like to be and keep them all close to her.  She is one marvelous little lady.

A visit

Today we four girls are going down to visit and have lunch with Mary.  Jim is back in the hospital with his stomach have a little problem.  He hasn't been eating well and lost 18 pounds.  Jim didn't have any extra to lose as it was.  The doctor assures Mary that this is part of the progress but you know she's worried anyway.  We're going to, hopefully, lift her spirits and take her for a steak lunch.  I know you will keep Jim in your prayers and thank you for that.

It's raining here and the temp is a nice comfortable 72 degrees.  It feels good and the flowers and lawns are probably doing a happy dance down in the roots.

I have been having an awful time uploading the video I pieced together of the trip to the zoo.  For some reason it always say something went wrong and cannot finish the upload.  Sorry about that.  So wanted to show you the peacock wandering freely on the grounds.

Well better go find something for breakfast.  Had to get that first cup of coffee under the belt.  Can't eat right away like some do.  Don't know why, just the way I am.

You all have a great day.

Interesting

1910  Ford Model R
Show  this to your friends, children and/or  grandchildren!

This will boggle your  mind, I know it did mine!

The year is  1910 One hundred years ago. What a difference a  century makes!

Here are some  statistics for the Year  1910:

************ *********  ************

The average life expectancy  for men was 47 years.

Fuel for this car  was sold in drug stores only.

Only 14  percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only  8 percent of the homes had a  telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and  only 144 miles of paved roads.

The  maximum speed limit in most cities was 10  mph.

The tallest structure in the world  was the Eiffel Tower !

The average US  wage in 1910 was 22 cents per hour.

The  average US worker made between $200 and $400 per  year.

A competent accountant could expect  to earn $2000 per year, A dentist $2,500 per  year, a veterinarian

between $1,500  and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer  about $5,000 per year.

More than 95  percent of all births took place at  HOME.

Ninety percent of all Doctors had  NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Instead, they  attended so-called medical schools, many of  which were condemned in the press AND the  government as 'substandard.'

Sugar cost  four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen  cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a  pound.

Most women only washed their hair  once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for  shampoo.

Canada passed a law that  prohibited poor people from entering into their  country for any reason.

The Five leading  causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and  influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3.  Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5.  Stroke

The American flag had 45  stars.

The population of Las Vegas ,  Nevada , was only 30!

Crossword puzzles,  canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented  yet.

There was no Mother's Day or  Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults  couldn't read or write and only 6 percent  of all Americans had graduated from high  school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine  were all available over the counter at the local  corner drugstores.

Back then pharmacists  said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives  buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach  and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian  of health'

( Shocking? DUH!  )

Eighteen percent of households had at  least one full-time servant or domestic  help.

There were about 230 reported  murders in the ENTIRE U. S. A. !

I  am now  forwarding this without retyping it myself, which I would have  had to do in 1910... From there, it can be sent  to others all over the WORLD - all in a matter  of seconds!
Try to  imagine what it may be like in another 100  years.

Those little embarrassing moments.

We all have them.  Hopefully most are very small ones.  But I thought I'd tell you about a little one for me.  Remember a few weeks ago when I had a wedding to go to.  Well in deciding what to wear I decided on a dress in my closet that I had not worn in so long even my sister Sherry didn't recognize it.  Well I went through the wedding and half the night at the reception when someone noticed the sleeve had begun to come apart.  Well, as there was nothing I could do I just bit the bullet and enjoyed the party.  Just a slight blush and on to the fun. Funny part is, when I went to sew up the seam connection and thought I was done I found BOTH sleeves were coming apart from the dress.  No, the dress wasn't too tight, so don't go there, lol.

Not much going to go on here for a few days.  Too hot to venture out much.  Still, to me it's better than ice and snow.  Especially ice.  Still have flashbacks of breaking an ankle on the ice one time.  No, I'll just cool off in the A/C and be glad it's not a blizzard out there.

Have a good day and try and keep cool.

Welcome Home

The babies are doing so well they came home.  Now the fun begins for them.  Keeping up with 4 kids 6 and under will surely keep them hopping.  Already they called for Grandma Help, lol.

Haven't been doing much of anything around here.  Went to the farmers market yesterday and it was packed.  Walking around was mightly slow going I tell ya.  Then went to Darla's for a cookout in the late afternoon.  Actually it was next door and it was so hot we ate in the house.  There is no shade around their places.

Friday we picked up the camper from getting the frig checked out and they couldn't find anything wrong.  I think maybe we just didn't have it level enough here.  Parked it, made sure of level and plugged it in and all is working perfectly.  DUH!   The new power jack works great and much easier on the 'old boy' than cranking.  He loves it.  Well all the checking, new crank, new battery, A\C cover all came to the tune of $467.  Carson was with us and saw a purple motorhome as we pulled into the lot.  She wants us to trade for it.  I told her that kind of money was way out of our league unless we win the lottery.  She said she had a dollar she could give to help, lol.  What a silly.

Anyone going to watch the Womens Soccer game?  Haven't been one to get into soccer but just may have to watch this game.  Kind of like when the men won the hockey championship at the Olympics.  Just have to see.

Well she's free and whereabouts unknown at this time.  Free,  how free can such a person really be?  People will be looking and hounding her for maybe ever.   I do believe she got away with it but I don't believe in the threats etc. she is getting.  Don't get me wrong, she deserves the put downs etc., but to put yourselves in the same killing mode only lowers you to her level.  Unfortunately she's been judged and set free.  The next judgement is up to God.

Hoping to go see the final Harry Potter film tonight.  Yeah, I know, at my age I'm into this?  Yes I am.  Have read all the books numerous times.   In reading them I wasn't ever quite sure they were just for kids as dark as they were.  Well, 'to each his own'.

Have a good day and God Bless!

When asked by a young patrol officer "Do You know you were speeding?"
This 83-year-old woman gave the young officer an ear to ear smile and stated:
"Yes , but .... I had to get there before I forgot where I was going."

The officer put his ticket book away and bid her good day.

Makes perfectly good sense to me.

Look, Look!

Brandon now weighs 4 lbs. 12 oz. and Kaylee weighs 4 lbs. 6 oz. Both babies have had their feeding tubes removed and are doing great.    Isn 't this just wonderful.  They were going to transfer here to Beloit but the insurance won't cover it, so Carolyn will have to continue going down everyday to feed them.  The way they are growing and improving I doubt it will be too much longer until they can bring them home.  We are so thankful everything went so well.  God does listen to our prayers.

Brandon

Kaylee

Since I did my ranting yesterday, I'll be good today and leave you with these little angels.

Have a great day.

Mother Nature Hates Me.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.  That storm blew through here like crazy and tipped over my yard swing.  Actually picked it up and moved it a little and dumped it on my picnic table.  When we could go out and pick it up we had to move it back between the 2 little wrought iron tables I had on each side (and they didn't move an inch) and the shade cover was torn.  Now I have to see if I have the sewing skills to make a new one.  Will be taking it off and measuring etc. to know how much material to buy.   Have ideas about how to change it so it can be put on and off and you don't get that 'sail' effect.  Did someone say Velcro?

Don't things always happen in bunches.  First the storm that ruined my gazebo and broke the car window.  Then the one yesterday that dumped the swing.  Then checking the camper and found the refrigerator isn't working properly and the camper battery to run things without electricity was no longer any good.  Well a talk with RV serviceman didn't work, as the things he told Jack to check (hoping for an easy fix) didn't pan out.  So today we hooked it up and took it in.  Decided as long as we're going broke he ordered a A\C cover, new battery and  a Power Jack.
NOW ENOUGH ALREADY!  I told family if I didn't laugh about this I would be stinking drunk.  LOL!
Hey it's 12 o'clock somewhere, and pretty darn close here.

Have to be careful and make sure I double check my spelling etc.  My wonderful sister Sherry is becoming a critic, lol.  She was bugging Jodi the other day on fb and me yesterday.  The brat.  Told her to shut up, lol.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hmmmm!

  A little levity

No English dictionary has been able to explain the difference between the
Two words COMPLETE and FINISHED, in a way that's easy to understand.
Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE & FINISHED.
I beg to differ because, there is :
When you marry the right woman, you are "COMPLETE"..
And when you marry the wrong one, you are "FINISHED"
And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are ...

"COMPLETELY FINISHED"

Have a great day.

A couple more

Picture from the zoo that is.

and the real thing, lol.

Haven't disappeared.  Just been so darn nice outside have been spending almost all my time out there.  You never know when Mother Nature decides we've enjoyed it too much and spoils the weather for us.  When in, have been checking the video's I took.  Deleted some who weren't too good and now will edit those that turned out and try to put them all in one movie form if possible.

You all enjoy a wonderful weekend.  Take care and God Bless you all.

Not Shocked

Can you be surprised and not shocked at the same time?  I along with most feel she did it, but wasn't shocked by the verdict.  Was discussing this with my sister Jodi Sunday and told her of an article I read by some legal beagle who said neither side proved anything. There were too many questions left unanswered.  It was all circumstantial.  I know many have been convicted on circumstantial evidence (some wrongly and some rightly) but our justice systems is not suppose to work that way.  Unfortunately in some cases the guilty are freed.  We may never know what really happened.  This family seems so dysfunctional to me and that  poor little angel suffered the consequences of it.  Was any of what Casey said the truth?  I doubt it, but who knows.  Did lying come natural to the family?  Is that where she learned it?  Even a pathelogical liar  may say something true once in awhile.  Was Casey raised to be self-centered?  To feel entitled to do as she pleased?  We all know there are families like that, where the children can do no wrong, and they grow up expecting everything to go their way.  The lies, miscues by authorities (the guy who tried 3 times to get them to look where he found her) etc. all contributed this verdict.  It makes you lose confidence in the ability of the legal system.

Happy 4th of July.
Remember the men who gave it to us and those who help us keep it.

Well the zoo was fun.  Have so many picture just can't decid which ones to put up.  Hubby put them up on fb, as did my sister.  Little 2 yr. old Ryker walked the entire zoo.  We were all just stunned.  Everyone thought for sure we would have to get a stroller or carry him at some point.  He was such a little trouper. He did fall asleep immediately when getting in the car.  He and Addison (she's 1) were good all day.  Well up unti we rode the little train that goes around the zoo.  He love trains and wanted on it everytime he heard it go by.  When we got in line and he saw the engine he became terrified and started screaming.  They got on in a far car but he clung to Jodi so tight she couldn't even move her head to see.  Addison on the other hand thought is was great.  She wanted to lean out and see.

My legs hurt so from all that walking.  A lot more walking than I'm used to and Sherry with her hip was pretty darn sore too.  It sure is a big place.  Had a little disappointment in it though.  They were cleaning the polar bear exhibit and we didn't get to see him.  I would have thought with a holiday weekend they would have had that all done for the spectators to enjoy him.  This guy was taking it easy though.
These freely wander the zoo grounds.  As soon as I get my videos checked I show one walking right in front of me.

No, he's not a relative.

More later.  Have a great day.

They're here!

They're here.  Our beautiful new twins.

Kaylee--3 lbs 15/12 oz.  15" long

Brandon--4 lbs 61/2 oz.  17" long

Both are doing quite well.  We are so happy to welcome them to the family and pray they continue to grow and improve even more.

Took Danielle to the airport in Milwaukee yesterday to go visit a friend in Idaho.  Boy what a mess.  They have the road all under construction, both in an out.  I must say though, it was still quite easy (just slow going) to get in an out.  Then the poor girls flight was delayed 2 hours.  Her girl friend does not wait patiently, lol.

Tomorrow we're all off to the Zoo.  Have to take the same road in but turn in the other direction and Jared assures me there is no contructin that way.  Hope he's right.  There is a bunch of us.  Sherry, her kids and grandkids, Jodi and her son and future d-i-l and grandkids. Jared and his kids, Us and Nicole and one of my grandsons is riding with one of Sherrys kids.  I think that's all, but with us you can never be sure. Rhonda would like to go but with the new babies that is not possible.  Guess we'll just have to plan another trip next year, :).  Making sure camera's are all charged up.  Want so much to get a good picture of the Polar Bear.  Just love watching him swim around in that pool.  Carson is teasing her dad about not going into the reptile house.  He has this thing about snakes.  We also have to keep Nicole clear of the giraffe's.  For some reason those things terrify her.  But, all in all it will be a fun day.  Expensive I think, but fun.  Guess we should take our jar of coins in and see what we have extra to take along.  Hope it's not too hot.

Well I guess I had better get the laundry finished and the camera's charged.
You all have a good weekend.
